What is Knome?
We are a for-profit, privately-held personal genomics company located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Working alongside leading geneticists, clinicians and bioinformaticians from Harvard and MIT, we are dedicated to helping individuals obtain, understand, and share their personal genomic information in a manner that is both anonymous and secure.
What services do you provide?
We are the first firm to offer individuals the opportunity to have their entire personal genome sequenced. Using the latest advances in whole-genome sequencing, we will sequence your genome and will provide you with a comprehensive analysis of the results under the direction of a leading geneticist. Further, our proprietary genome management platform will enable you to retain complete control over your private genomic information.
Why should I sequence my genome?
In addition to being amongst the first individuals in history to be fully sequenced (a group that, to date, includes only James Watson, co-discoverer of DNA, and Craig Venter, one of the pioneers who first sequenced the human genome), you will have direct knowledge of your own genetic information. Once your entire genome has been sequenced, you will be able to stay current on future genetic discoveries as they become available. Beyond health-related applications, your sequenced genome can provide insights into your own ancestry and genealogy.
How can I sign-up?
We are selecting a limited number of individuals to participate in our initial launch phase. If you are interested in purchasing a private copy of your personal genome, please contact us. Due to the significant costs associated with our services, we reserve the right to refuse access at our complete and sole discretion.
How much do your services cost?
Pricing for our services starts at $350,000, including whole-genome sequencing and a comprehensive analysis from a team of leading geneticists, clinicians and bioinformaticians. Please contact us at information@knome.com for additional information.
How will you protect my privacy?
Knome is dedicated to allowing its clients to remain completely anonymous if they so choose. We do so by implementing confidential information management processes that have been successfully applied in the defense industry and by architecting our technology in a manner that avoids structural weaknesses that might be vulnerable to attack.
Will I own my genomic information?
Yes. Your genome will be yours. Once you receive your sequenced genome, you are under no obligation to continue using our services or to maintain your genome with Knome.
Are there research benefits to joining?
Your genome is yours to manage as you like. If you choose to participate in medical research, you will have the ability to share your genome with researchers and other medical professionals -- while remaining completely anonymous.
