We are a for-profit, privately-held personal genomics company located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Working alongside leading geneticists, clinicians and bioinformaticians from Harvard and MIT, we are dedicated to helping individuals obtain, understand, and share their personal genetic information in a manner that is both anonymous and secure.
We are the first firm to offer private individuals complete genome (Knome COMPLETE™) or comprehensive gene (KnomeSELECT™) sequencing, analysis and interpretation services. Using the latest advances in DNA sequencing, we will sequence your complete genome or comprehensive gene and will provide you with a customized analysis under the direction of a team of leading geneticists and clinicians. The results are presented to you in person where you can consult with Knomeās team of experts regarding your analysis. Our innovative KnomeXplorer browser enables you to navigate through your own DNA. Further, our proprietary GenomeKey platform will enable you to retain complete control over your own private genetic information.
In addition to being amongst the first individuals in history to be sequenced, DNA sequence data enables us to craft the most comprehensive analysis available on the market today. Once your DNA has been sequenced, you will be able to stay current on future genetic discoveries as they become available.
Given the highly personalized and interactive nature of our process, our services cannot be purchased online. If you are interested in engaging our services, please contact us. A Knome representative will contact you to discuss the process and answer your questions. Due to the significant costs associated with our services, we reserve the right to refuse access at our complete and sole discretion.
DNA sequencing and analysis are time-consuming and laborious processes that usually take a total of 12-16 weeks to complete. A Knome representative walks our clients through each step of the process and provides regular updates on our progress.
Our services require a significant investment in technological and analytical resources. Each individual is assigned a complete team of bioinformaticians, geneticists and clinicians to conduct a comprehensive analysis of your DNA. Our KnomeCOMPLETE™ service is currently priced at $68,500. Our KnomeSELECT™ service is currently priced at $24,500 for individuals, or $19,500 per person for couples and families.
We are dedicated to enabling our clients to remain completely anonymous if they so choose. We do so by implementing confidential information management processes that have been successfully applied in the defense industry and by architecting our technology in a manner that avoids structural weaknesses that may be vulnerable to attack. Our clients receive their genetic information on our proprietary GenomeKey, a fully encrypted portable storage device
Yes. Your genetic information will be yours. Once you receive your sequenced DNA and analysis, you are under no obligation to continue using our services or to maintain your genetic data with Knome.
Your genetic information is yours to manage as you like. If you choose to participate in medical research, you will have the ability to share your genetic information with researchers and other medical professionals - while remaining completely anonymous.
The Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988, or CLIA as it is commonly referred to, are United States federal regulatory requirements that provide standards for and certification of clinical laboratory testing. CLIA defines a clinical laboratory as any facility which performs laboratory testing on specimens derived from humans for the purpose of providing information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease or impairment, and for the assessment of health. CLIA aims to ensure the accuracy, reliability and timeliness of test results. To obtain CLIA certification a laboratory must submit a detailed application, undergo an inspection of its facilities and meet various quality control, personnel and other requirements.
