Knome and Personal Genomics to Form Sales Alliance and Scientific Partnership

CAMBRIDGE, MA, USA, April 11, 2014 – Knome, Inc. and Personal Genomics, s.r.l., Verona, Italy, announced an exclusive sales alliance for Knome’s knoSYS™ platform in Italy and a scientific partnership for continued development of the platform’s tools, content, and applications.

Knome offers the fully integrated knoSYS platform for the management and interpretation of human genome sequence data. The knoSYS systems combine analytical and workflow software with powerful grid computers. Earlier in this year Knome expanded its line of models. In addition to the initial knoSYS™100 model designed for high throughput genomics, Knome now offers a smaller system, the knoSYS™25, designed for labs working mostly on targeted panels and moderate numbers of exomes and genomes.

Prof. Massimo Delledonne of the Università degli Studi di Verona was one of the first to purchase and work with the flagship knoSYS™100 model. “As one of the first academic whole genome and personal genomics labs in Italy, we were looking for a secure and fast computing environment for all our genomic data processing.” Prof. Delledonne said.

After last year’s launch of the knoSYS platform, Knome immediately started to search for strategic distribution partners. “We were impressed by the deep expertise we found in Personal Genomics, in genomics as well as in high performance computing, a rare combination that is central to Knome’s approach to addressing the burgeoning clinical sequencing market” said Wolfgang Daum, CEO of Knome. “Prof. Delledonne’s confidence in Knome’s system and their professional team convinced us to become Knome’s first international distributor” said Marco Dotto, CEO of Personal Genomics.
